I’m shaving my mullet!

The end of this year marks the end of my 11 year journey through Canteen. I have been accessing the Canteen support services and attending camps and programs ever since my dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, and then later passed away in 2013. Canteen was and still is a massive part of my life. Canteen gave me the comfort and support to be able to navigate such a tough time in my life. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the support of Canteen. My cancer experience has had a lot of ups and downs, and when I thought I had come out the other side. My step dad later got diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and passed away 2 months later. I continued to lean on Canteen for support through this time and they were always there when I needed them. My cancer experience then took another turn and in 2021 when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing treatment I can happily say, she was given the one year all clear earlier this year. The last 11 years have been a hell of a journey, but I am forever grateful for the ongoing support I received from Canteen. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have been able to navigate this journey, and I can almost guarantee I’d be in a much more unhealthy and darker place. With this being said, I want to give back and spread awareness of Canteen and the wonderful support they offer to young people affected by cancer, they have been in my corner since day one, so let’s make sure they can stand in the corner of another young person in a similar situation to me. Let’s say goodbye to the mullet
