I’m taking part in Canteen’s Bandanna Day this year by selling bandannas to support young people when cancer crashes into their world.
Canteen is the game changer. They help young people cope with cancer in their family, rebuild their foundations and connect with others in the same boat.

Friday 20th Oct Canteen has always played a huge part in my life. Almost 10 years ago I started donating to this amazing cause supporting kids and families dealing with cancer. Who would’ve thought 6 years later we would be using their resources. It’s been a tough 4 years for us and now the fight is about to begin. My beautiful children Ned and Poppy have been lucky enough to be involved in community events and talk to other kids/ families going through similar situations. This year I decided to do a bit more than my monthly donation. I wanted to participate in National Bandanna Day as I’m about to start treatment for my 4 cancer. With this chemotherapy session I will lose my hair, previously I was able to keep it. I wanted to get my bandanna stash up with all the bright and funky colours and bring some light into my life while working as an ESO at St Mary Magdalenes School. There will be a few changes that will happen quite quickly and Bandanna Day falls at the perfect time from me to move forward in my journey. I start chemotherapy on the 26th October and Bandanna Day is the 27th, with the support from leadership and my peers we are having Crazy Hair day on the 27th to raise awareness for families with cancer. I’m adding a little twist to the end of the day and shaving my head in front of all of my favourite people. My journey will impact the students so I’m hoping to make the event light hearted and fun and for them to know how much the cause means to me and my family. My eyes are welling up as I type this. I am forever grateful for the love and support I receive from the St Mary Magdalenes community. I wouldn’t be as strong as I am without them. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
